Race Dates: April 22-25, 2021

Location: Sonoma Raceway (2.52-mile road course)

Series: SVRA Group 6, Trans Am 2

Driver: Scott Borchetta

SVRA: Scott Borchetta and the Scott Borchetta racing team have solidified themselves as a force to be reckoned with in SVRA competition. They swept the weekend at Sonoma Raceway in Group 6 competition, earning their seventh and eighth wins on the season. The team remains undefeated as they head to Laguna Seca next week.

Trans Am 2: Borchetta grabbed his third top-10 effort of the season in his No. 48 Big Machine Vodka Spiked Coolers Ford Mustang, finishing seventh in the TA2 class in the combined Trans Am feature at Sonoma Raceway. After suffering damage to his Mustang during an on-track incident in qualifying on Saturday, Borchetta rode shotgun on the field in, starting 28th. From the drop of the green flag, Borchetta began his ascent forward and was up to eleventh overall and eighth in TA2 by lap 15 when the second yellow flag of the race was displayed.

Once back underway, he advanced to ninth overall and sixth in TA2 when a quick off-track excursion dropped him back to twelfth overall and ninth in TA2. Undeterred by the loss of track position, Borchetta battled his way back to tenth overall and seventh in TA2 before the checkered flag waved in the 100 mile 40-lap feature event. Borchetta was consistently turning some of the fastest laps of all TA2 drivers and is excited to continue the West Coast run for Trans Am and SVRA.

“This is our first-ever time racing at Sonoma. The learning curve was insane for the team and I but everyone stepped up to put up a very strong result today. Outside of overall winner Chris Dyson, not one other car passed us under racing conditions. We look to take this momentum to Laguna Seca next weekend for another first-time look at this iconic track and continue our charge of Top 10 finishes.”
